OUR MISSION

To increase civic engagement in Madison, Alabama by providing educational opportunities to residents and removing participation barriers at the community level.

VOTER OUTREACH

  • Conduct drive-thru voter registration and absentee ballot assistance during the pandemic

  • Attend community events to register voters and bring awareness to upcoming elections

ACCESSIBILITY AND TRANSPARENCY

  • Champion remote means of delivering public comments

  • Advocate that all city meetings be made available through livestreaming and archiving​

  • Request that the Mayor, City Council members, and guest speakers use microphones at meetings

​​

  • Encourage the Board of Education to record and archive public meetings and place meeting minutes online for easy access

Progress!

Madison City is now livestreaming and archiving City Council, Planning, and Zoning meetings. The Board of Education has made the minutes of main school board meetings available on the district's website.

FILL RESOURCE GAPS

  • Record City Council Work Sessions and making them available to residents

  • Create five-item meeting recaps to help residents easily stay up to date with City Council Meetings and Board of Education Meetings

  • Utilize social media to boost civic information​​​
